University of Naples Federico II, Department of Architecture (DiARC), PLINIVS-LUPT Study Centre
The UCCRN team of the University of Naples Federico II involves the Department of Architecture - DiARC and the PLINIVS-LUPT Study Centre.
DiARC research activity is primarily aimed at decision support and technical assistance to local government and stakeholders in urban and regional sustainable regeneration processes, environmental assessment of planning and design strategies, as well as in the implementation of technical policies for the building and urban retrofitting, preservation and enhancement of cultural heritage and climate change adaptation.
PLINIVS-LUPT Study Centre, Centre of Competence of the Italian National Department of Civil Protection, has a strong experience in the development of Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation decision-support tools, as well as in in GIS and parametric tools for environmental and climate-resilient design. Those skills were improved within FP7 and H2020 research projects (e.g. CRISMA, SNOWBALL, ESPREssO, CLARITY, among others). The consolidated approach of PLINIVS related to the integration of climate adaptation and mitigation actions within hazard/impact modelling procedure, their performance and cost-benefit assessment, supports the implementation of simulation tools used within the UCCRN Urban Climate Design Workshop series.
